Teller/MSR I North Federal
Assist members with their financial transactions, involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments. Assist members and potential members with their credit union needs directly and through other representatives. Effectively explain and refer credit union products and services and build relationships with new and existing members. Open new accounts and maintain existing accounts. Respond to problems in a timely manner and direct members to the appropriate people as needed.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Receives and processes member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; sells money orders; transfers amounts from member accounts as directed.
Identifies relationship building opportunities and makes recommendations to members about products and services.
Assists members with opening and closing accounts, answers questions about products and services and resolves problems that are within their authority to resolve. Refers problems that are beyond their authority to a MSR II or their supervisor.
Balances cash drawer and daily transactions.
Supports the teller area through additional responsibilities that include: balancing of vault, cash machines, ATM, etc. as assigned.
Assures that appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared.
Acts as liaison between members and various organizations and departments.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience-Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
Education- A high school education or GED.
Interpersonal Skills-A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
Physical / Environmental Characteristics: Essential duties are performed in a general office work environment and regularly require sitting and standing at a work station/desk while completing paperwork or using computers, calculators, copiers, fax machines and other office business machines and equipment. Essential duties may also involve occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, walking, crouching, stooping and lifting up to 30 pounds to stack, store supplies or various office equipment as directed. Typical work week is 5 ½ days a week or less. Compliance to security and safety procedures, including use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required.
