Budget: $22.79-$28.49
Assists members with their consumer lending needs, analyzing loan request and making credit decisions based on lending policy. Responsible for a variety of more complex loan applications for consumer loans and/or line of credit applications. Interviews loan applicants to determine credit needs. Collects and analyzes credit for financial data for loans. This is a fully experienced Consumer Lender able to analyze more complex loans. Processes Personal, Visa, LOC, Share Secured, and Secured (auto, specialty, recreational vehicle) loans, Home Equity Lines of Credit. To ensure that all loans underwritten are in compliance with the Fair Lending Act, and all other lending regulations. Responsible for lending queue management, meeting cross sale and ancillary sales goals to include GAP, Warranty, Debt Protection and Auto Broker Referrals
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Provides and supports internal and external members with full range of credit union loan products and services. Researches and uses critical thinking to evaluate and determine the credit worthiness. Analyzes current financial position of members to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Makes decision to approve, disapprove or forward the loan request to higher levels for decision for more complex loans or those outside of lending limits. Determines terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews them with the member. Correspond with members, applicants and creditors to resolve questions regarding application information. Ability to originate loans both in branch and through outbound calls
  • Strengthen member relationships through the delivery of quality service. Works all loan applications and member queues timely. Evaluate member’s financial needs discussing as appropriate account and loan alternatives, or alternate credit criteria and interest rates. Identifies relationship building opportunities and making recommendations to members regarding other services offered by the credit union
  • Ensures documentation for all loans is complete and loan terms are accurate and is promptly disbursed. Process and submit title paperwork timely. Ensure all loan are in compliance with regulatory requirements and exceptions are cleared within timeline's prescribed in order to meet quality control requirements and to minimize risks
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned & keeps informed about trends in consumer credit
  • Provides training and mentoring to junior level lending staff
  • Authorizes release of collateral on existing loans, changes in loan terms, waiver of payments, due date changes, etc
  • Ensures cost control and operating expense are in line by focusing on increase product penetration, and by maintaining a focus on process improvement

  • To exercise good judgment in analysis of credit worthiness utilizing information and tools available, ensuring decisions are consistent with regulations and credit union guidelines when issuing or denying credit
  • To ensure all necessary documentation is obtained from the member, or applicable partners or vendors in a timely manner. The loan file should include all documentation needed to make sound lending decisions according to Denver Community Credit Union policy and guidelines
  • To assist the organization in meeting overall business plan objectives regarding Asset Growth, Membership Growth, Member Relationship Score, and Loan Growth goals through education of membership of currently marketing promotions, informing members about products that may benefit them financially and by meeting individual assigned goals
  • To provide support to all credit union staff in areas of consumer lending and assist in training effort
  • To ensure all audit findings are corrected and submitted within two weeks of being added to audit log. Shows appropriate improvement in regard to type of audit findings, to not consistently have the same type of audit findings. Keeps audit findings at a minimum to ensure members receive accurate service, and to keep the credit union safe and sound
  • To support training, education and staff development by ensuring you complete applicable compliance courses, product/services training assessments and technical training as required by the position: and by being a training resource for other departments. All employees are required to pass with 85% or better and meet completion deadlines
  • To demonstrate an understanding of and follows established policies, practices, and regulations, including those defined by the Fair Lending Act, Safe Act, BSA, Red Flag, ECOA, RESPA, TILA and all other regulatory and other designated programs and regulations. The ability to observe and correct areas of non- compliance and assist the organization in meeting defined standard and requirements. Maintain MLO registration with the NMLS in good standing always
Knowledge & Skills:
Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience
Education: A high school education or GED
Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
Physical Environment: Physical / Environmental Characteristics: Essential duties are performed in a general office work environment and regularly require sitting and standing at a workstation/desk while completing paperwork or using computers, calculators, copiers, fax machines and other office business machines and equipment. Essential duties may also involve occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, walking, crouching, stooping and lifting up to 30 pounds to stack, store supplies or various office equipment as directed. Typical work week is 5 ½ days a week or less. Compliance to security and safety procedures, including use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required
